Bearings - Ball
Ball bearings consist of a hardened inner and outer ring, hardened ball rolling element and cage. The ball rolling elements are equally spaced by the cage which retains and eases rotation of the ball rolling elements. Ball bearings have three classes: radial, thrust, and angular contact.

Conrad type ball bearings are well balanced with deep races and uninterrupted race shoulders. Being an excellent, general purpose bearing, it has the capacity to carry radial, thrust in either direction or combined loads. These bearings are electric motor quality for applications where extra quietness is a requirement.

Angular-contact bearings combine radial and thrust loads, and are used where precise shaft location is needed. Uses of the other two types are described by their names: radial bearings for radial loads and thrust bearings for thrust loads.
Maximum capacity bearings have a greater capacity for supporting heavier radial loads and light thrust loads in either direction. Maximum capacity bearings feature a filling slot in the shoulder of each raceway to assemble an extra large ball complement.
When selecting a ball bearing, you must consider:
* the load-carrying capacity and the nature of the load
* the speed of shaft in r.p.m.
* service under given conditions; temp, humidity, dustiness, acidity...
* the anticipated life of the bearing
* magnitude and direction of loads
* the proportion of thrust to radial load
